Man charged after allegedly firing rifle

A 51-year-old Clarenza man has been granted conditional bail after appearing in Grafton Local Court yesterday charged with a number of firearm offences.

On Tuesday night police from Grafton were called to a house at Four Mile Lane in relation to a domestic dispute where a man was allegedly armed with a firearm.

They said other occupants were in the house at the time, including a woman and two children.

Police allege that during the incident, the man discharged two rounds from a rifle into the ground outside the house.

Police negotiated with the man over the telephone and he left the premises unarmed. He was arrested without incident.

He was charged with three counts of possessing unregistered firearms, possess prohibited firearm, unlawfully discharge firearm, possess ammunition and not keep safe firearm.

He is due to appear in court again on July 25.
