Margaret calls it a day

SHOPPERS at the Woolworths supermarket in Grafton Shoppingworld will be missing a familiar face from today after the retirement of Margaret Watkins.

Mrs Watkins, a check-out operator for 30 years, retired from the store yesterday.

She said it was sad to say goodbye, but she was looking forward to her retirement.

"I will miss communicating with the customers, I like to be able to talk to them," she said.

"It will be sad to say goodbye to the staff as well, they've all been wonderful."

Mrs Watkins began her career when Woolworths was based in Prince Street, which is now Mitre 10.

Along with her husband Noel, Mrs Watkins is looking forward to spending time with their grandchildren and travelling around Australia.

"We want to do things together and get around and visit people and see Australia," she said.
