Mass Assassin makes a killing in the heats

LITTER brothers Millordo and Mass Assassin into the Grafton District Services Club Final next Saturday.
This is the second final for Mass Assassin as he also made the final of the Easter Maiden and the first for Millordo at the Grafton track, this litter of Modern Assassin out of Destiny Bear also includes the Easter Maiden winner Fleet Assassin.
Millordo trained by John Corrigan was the fastest heat winner when he lead from half way along the back straight and went on to win by three and a quarter lengths in 23.12 seconds from the Gary Peel trained Azezi. The time of 23.12 was the quickest over the 407m trip.
The Marlene Ellis-trained Mass Assassin led all the way from box one to just hold out the heavily backed Joyful Lee, trained by Nev Robson, by a half-length in 23.43 seconds.
Kenny Rock, trained by Jason Fredricks, finally had some luck in his heat and raced away to score by a length-and-three-quarters from Energy Rhythm trained by Rick Godwin in 23.49 seconds.
The field for the final next Saturday, not in box draw order, is: Mass Assassin, Joyful Lee, Juglan's Nigra, Kenny Rock, Energy Rhythm, Millordo, Azezi, Shalana Girl.
The win of Millordo was the first leg of a winning dou- ble for Corrigan. He scored later in the program with Porky Royale, who gave any supporters he had heart failure, as he was second last at the back turn and then circled the field to finish best and win by three quarters of a length in 23.75 seconds.
Energy Spin trained by Rick Godwin appreciated the six-dog field when he was able to race to the lead at the first turn and then just hold out the fast finishing Mighty Slim to score by three-quarters-of-a-length in 23.16 seconds in the Carlton Premium Dry top grade over 407m.
Best time of the day over the 480m trip was recorded by the John McGrory-trained Cooladine Rock ? 27.59 sec.
