More pain for Rebels

THE beleaguered South Grafton Rugby League Club has closed ranks following the sudden resignation of its secretary, treasurer and a committee member in the past week.

Rebels secretary Robin Smith, his wife and treasurer Maree O'Meally-Smith and committee person Jo Hegedus all handed in their resignations this week.

However, neither the club or the departing committee members were prepared to reveal the reasons for their resignations.

Smith, also speaking for his wife, said neither would comment on their resignations.

Smith has also pulled out of a steering committee made up of members of the South Grafton and Grafton rugby league clubs to oversee a merger of the senior clubs.

On Tuesday the club elected Danielle Palmer as its new secretary.
