GRAFTON Public School's boys and girls hockey team are just one game away from making their respective NSW PSSA championship finals.

Both teams are scheduled to play Ben Venue School in the quarter finals at Lower Fisher Park on Monday to make their way into the final four series of the state-wide knockout competition scheduled for Lithgow on August 22.

The girls match begins at 8am and the boys at 9.15am.

The boys team have recorded wins against South Grafton 5nil, Urunga 5-nil and Barringbah 1-nil.

Brilliant wins against South Grafton 5-nil, Maclean 7-nil, Kempsey West 5-nil and Whyralla Road (Lismore) 1-nil have catapulted the girls team into finals contention.

Both teams' last wins made them North Coast champions.

Grafton Public has a proud tradition in the PSSA hockey knockout, the school's girls team winning the State title in 2002 and the boys in 1999 and 2000.

Both teams are coached by Wendy Cotton.
