Music to the ears

ORIGINAL music will be showcased at Roches Family Hotel tonight as part of an open mic night arranged by Grafton TAFE music students.

Event organiser Trevor Day said the night was part of a new initiative to provide 'more live music, more often'.

The first series of gigs are scheduled to run every Wednesday at 7pm from July 19 for a six-week trial period.

"All musos are invited to get involved and can perform either solo, as a duo or in a band line-up," Mr Day said.

"They only need to bring along their own musical instruments for their performance."

To make the set-up easier, TAFE music students will provide all the guitar amps, drums, PA system and the technical production required to make the night run smoothly.

"To keep the show entertaining, with plenty of movement and colour with a wide variety of musical styles, each act is limited to a time slot of three songs or 20 minutes playing time," he said.
