Mystery surrounds Grafton death



POLICE are treating the death of a 45-year-old man in Grafton on Monday night as suspicious.

A police media spokesman said yesterday that detectives were investigating the Grafton man's death.

The spokesman said ambulance officers were called to a unit in Imeson Lane about 7pm after they had received reports of a man experiencing cardiac and respiratory arrest.

"Attempts to revive the man failed," the spokesman said.

"The death is being treated as suspicious."

Inquiries into the incident are continuing.

Investigators yesterday spoke with a number of witnesses. A post mortem examination is expected to be undertaken today and a report prepared for the Coroner.

nMEANWHILE, the Grafton man found unconscious in Dobie Street with serious head wounds on Friday was last night still in a critical but stable condition in the Gold Coast Hospital. Grafton police have called for anyone who may be able to assist their investigations to contact them on 6642 0222.
