SMOOTH SAILING: Clarence River Yacht Club members check out the new marina in South Grafton

By EMMA CORNFORD

THE new South Grafton marina was used for the first time by the Clarence River Yacht Club on the weekend as four members launched their boats for a weekend cruise.

Club member Alex Purvis said the marina was excellent.

"The ramps worked easily, even for large boats, and the floating jetty there is a wonderful thing," he said.

The four boats sailed to Moleville Rocks, upstream of Grafton, and camped the night before making their way back on Sunday.

"It's a good position there, especially when you're going upstream, because our boats can't fit under the bridge," Mr Purvis said.
