New police officer on the beat at Iluka
By ADRIAN MILLER
ILUKA has a new police officer.
Constable Trent Lobb, who arrived at Iluka around three weeks ago with wife Amanda, will be based at the Iluka police station full-time.
Cst Lobb, who has spent the last five years as a detective in Walgett, said he was looking forward to the challenge.
"It's a change for me, both work wise and lifestyle," he said.
"Before I was in plain clothes out west and now I'm back in uniform, which is a different style of policing.
"It's more community-based policing so it's really just a total change in lifestyle to what I was doing before."
Cst Lobb, who will celebrate a decade of policing later this year, previously worked as a police officer in Maroubra, Sydney, for three years.
He said he was looking forward to working in Iluka.
"I've pretty much spent the last five years out west, so we thought we would move here for something different and to be near the beach ? it's a lovely area," he said.
"We looked up and down the coast for places that would suit us and our lifestyle and this was the number one choice for us, (and) we were pretty lucky to get here."
Cst Lobb said he had already picked up a positive vibe throughout the town.
"It's been good so far," he said.
"I've met a lot of good people in town and everyone seems to be happy to have a new officer around."
