O?Connor, Dahl top in Services pool

PAUL O'Connor and Kim Dahl won major awards at the Grafton District Services Swimming Club's annual presentation last Friday.

O'Connor, the club captain, won the Hugh Miller Memorial Trophy as the overall point score winner from club president, Stephen Donnelly (Hugh Green Trophy) and John Wainwright.

O'Connor also won the 40-44 years age trophy.

Dahl was named Clubman of the Year securing the Gary Grantham Trophy which was inaugurated by Tom Grantham and his wife, June.

Other age winners were:

n35-37yrs - Paul Smith from Scott Faulkner;

n45-49yrs - Doug Ensbey, Terry Brien;

n50-54yrs - Stephen Donnelly, John Wainwright;

n55-59yrs - Richard Sear, Terry Barnes;

n60yrs and over - John Kelleher, Neville Hackett.

The Ray Burridge Trophy for most disqualifications ? 29 times ? went to Bill Goddard.

Doug Ensbey won the Maurice Chapman Trophy for consistency and the Stephen Donnelly Trophy for monthly winners.

Donnelly said in his president's report while weekly attendances were down on previous years it was a cyclic period of low membership affecting many clubs and a new membership drive would be undertaken.

He also acknowleged the club's sponsors and hard work of the committee and vice-president Terry Marsh.
