OLYMPIC gold medal-winning hockey captain, Brent Livermore, is going to have some familiar faces around him as he competes in the NSW State championships at the Newcastle Sports Stadium this weekend.

Livermore will be joined by other former Grafton and now NSW State representative teammates Robbie Green and Peter Kelly and another State representative and former Lismore player, Mark Harris.

Also in the side will be State Under-18 representative Grafton players Scott Garner and Nick Russ and expatriate Grafton player and NSW Under-21 aspirant David James.

It should be a strong Grafton side with Kane Hancock, Dan Shipman, David Dart, Jye Reardon, Joel Ward, Dave Kelly, David Willis and expatriate Graftonian Nathan Eastwood, making up the side.

Despite the presence of Australian and State representatives, Grafton will compete in the B division ? a result of the team's performance in last year's knockout.

Team manager Chris Blanchard said the side had applied to go in the A division, but still expected strong opposition in B division.

Blanchard said it was Livermore, Green and Peter Kelly who wanted to get a Grafton team organised.

"These guys are great ? they haven't forgotten where they came from and want to help the young guys," he said.
