Origin legends a hit in Grafton

By TONY WHITE

FORMER rugby league State of Origin players Glen Lazarus and Mario Fenech proved star attractions in Grafton yesterday as part of the Harvey Norman Legends of Origin Relay.

Students from nearby Grafton Public School, shoppers, workers and Origin fans took the chance to catch up with the former greats outside the Harvey Norman store in Bacon Street.

Autographs were signed and a tale or two was told about past and present times on the rugby league field.

"The kids in particular had a great time," Harvey Norman electrical franchisee John Stewart said. "

"We were very pleased with the promotion, so were the boys.

"Dean Jones was also there. A legend from another game (cricket).

"There was a lot of cars and workers trucks that stopped to see what was happening and plenty of curious shoppers."

Fenech, Michael Buettner and Alan Wilson attended a further Origin promotion at the Crown Hotel last night.
