Pedalling for one hell of a good cause

WATCH your back if you're heading to Coffs Harbour today ? Hell on Wheels could be right behind you.

This year marks the eighth annual Hell on Wheels tour which is one of the major fundraisers for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The group was in Grafton on Wednesday before making its way to Iluka, and yesterday headed to Coutts Crossing and today will ride to Coffs Harbour. Around 40 cyclists have joined this year's tour, which is designed for mountain bike riders of all levels. Riders pedal at their preferred pace and the group stops several times each day for food and drink breaks, cycling around 80 kilometres of varying terrain including bitumen, dirt roads and bush tracks each day.

To date, the event has raised almost $300,000 for the rescue service.
