Perch scales

THE Orara perch is set to become an international hit, thanks to a $109,934 grant from the Federal Government.

The Clarence Valley-based business Organic Fish received the money under the Government's recently expanded new industries development grants program.

The business was Australia's first certified organic fish farm and owners Tim Jones and Anne Montgomery said they would use the funding to increase the company's pond area and help boost marketing.

The next round of funding under the scheme, which helps boost innovation in science and technology, will close on Friday, April 8.
