Playgroup seeks new members

By EMMA CORNFORD

AS KEARNNA McDonogh-Allen sat on a small green trike yesterday, her blonde hair blowing in the wind, other kids zipped past on trikes or dug holes in the sand pit.

The 21-month-old was at South Grafton Playgroup, where once a week she joins other children to play, socialise and just have fun.

Kearnna's mum, Belinda Allen, says Kearnna loves attending playgroup.

"She has two brothers who are a lot older than her so I bring her along to play with other little kids her age. She loves it," Ms Allen said.

As well as giving kids aged 0-five a chance to play, the group also provides mums and dads with a chance to socialise.

Next Wednesday, June 7, other families will have the chance to see what playgroup is all about as the South Grafton group conducts an open day from 10am until midday at the Kelly Street playgroup hall.

"We're looking for more members to come along ... so that hopefully we can have playgroup open for another day as well," coordinator Sue Boyle said.

"It's only really open one or two days a week at the moment, but if we can get more people we could have it open four or five days and that would be great."

At the open day kids will have the chance to enjoy a wide range of fun activities including painting, play dough, craft and outdoor play.
