CONTROVERSY has erupted involving the North Coast girls cricket team at the PSSA State Championships in Newcastle.

An official appeal, understood to involve parent coaching from the sidelines, has been lodged against the result of yesterday's match between North Coast and Mackillop (Catholic).

North Coast, who won its first two games, scored 6-70 from its 25 overs and Mackillop (6-71) passed the total on the second last ball of the innings.

The appeal was scheduled to be heard last night.
