Reaching out to halt the spread of deadly AIDS

WORLD AIDS Day was marked around the globe last Thursday with various events held throughout the Valley.

This year's theme 'HIV/AIDS ? Let's talk about it' was evident, with information stalls set up in Yamba on Thursday and Grafton on Friday, while a memorial service was held at Grafton's Christ Church Cathedral on Thursday night.

Clarence Valley HIV Support Group member Peter Gordon said the stalls were aimed at debunking some of the myths surrounding HIV.

"It's not just up to us to stop the spread, we need to get people talking to their families and friends and each other about how to stop the disease," he said.

Mr Gordon said the response had been excellent from members of the public.
