Record price for Alumy Creek acres

By Adrian Miller

An Alumy Creek property has fetched what is believed to be a record price for the area.

The 43-acre hobby farm on Lawrence Road was sold at auction by Ray Donovan Stock and Property last week for $410,000.

Principal Ray Donovan said the price exceeded everyone's expectations for a property that size.

"It made quite a bit over what we thought it would make and what the vendor thought it would make as well ? it was just a sought after little block close to town," he said.

"We thought it would be $100,000 under that, it's really a record for that area I'd say."

Mr Donovan said the property, which has main road frontage, creek frontage and is on flood free land, would need some renovating.

"I'd say the new people will probably pull the old house down, there wasn't much value in the house," he said.

"It will be make a good hobby farm block, it's certainly good for running some cattle on it."
