Riley stars at CHS titles

MacLean High School swimmers headed Clarence Valley performers at the CHS Swimming Championships in Sydney this week.

Riley Elvery was the star of the team making two finals ? the 12-year boys 50m freestyle (10th) and 12-year boys 100m freestyle (8th).

He was also 11th fastest in the 12-year boys 200m freestyle.

Kimberly Saunders finished 16th in the 14-year girls 50m freestyle and Kira Halverson 18th in the 16-year girls 50m freestyle.

The boys 13-year 4 x 50m freestyle relay team finished 12th, the boys 14-year 4 x 50m freestyle relay team finished 6th in the final and the girls 16-year 4 x 50m freestyle relay qualified 8th and finished a very creditable 5th in the final.

South Grafton High star Brook Walters was ill when competing and withdrew from the 100m freestyle but still managed to contest four events ? 17-19-year 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

Walters finished 17th fastest in most events.

Grafton High's 17-year boys 4 x 50m freestyle relay team ? Jacob Lollback, Andrew Lollback, Scott Butcher and Josh Salkeld ? qualified for the final finishing 8th.
