Rowers reach finals

Lewis Hemphill also finished second in the boys' Under-17 single scull to qualify for the final and Brenton Ford missed out after placing third in his semi-final.

The girls' Under-17 quad ? See, Peppernell, Saxon Ramon, Steffanie Colgrave and cox Johanna Tarrant ? stamped themselves as definite medal contenders by winning their semi-final in brilliant style. The three finals will be held today on Lake Barrington.

Peppernell and Tess Garrand (Taree) and Hemphill and Ford won their respective heats of the Under-17 girls' and boys' double to qualify for the semi-finals, also scheduled for today.

Conditions have been tough on rowers with strong head winds prevailing.
