GRAFTON'S Matt Ryan has led the touring Northern NSW Under-21 Emus' side to it's inaugural win on the New Zealand tour.

Playing against Canterbury County late last week the Emus scored an emphatic 138-run win in the two day game at Cheviot.

After setting Canterbury 256 to win, the home side were dismissed for 118. Ryan, who plays for Brothers Post Office Hotel in Premier League, scored 24 in the first innings and was out for a duck in the second innings with the Emu's dismissed for 168.

The first tour match against Greymouth was washed out.

In the third scheduled game Canterbury Suburban beat the Emus in a 50-over one-dayer at Redwood Park.

After compiling 278 from its 50 overs, the Emu's made 9-215. Ryan compiled a fine 34 for the tourists.
