KAY COTTEE: Final call issued for sailing encouragement program

Sailing near the deadline

NSW Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation Sandra Nori has issued a final call for young people aged 12 to 16 to nominate for the Kay Cottee Sailing Encouragement Program.

Ms Nori said 18 young people from the Riverina, South Coast, Central West, North West, North Coast, Central Coast and Hunter would have the opportunity to spend a week at Broken Bay Sport and Recreation Camp, on the Hawkesbury, learning how to sail.

They had until Friday to nominate.

The 18 young people will be chosen by ballot for the all-expenses paid week during the September school holidays.

Ms Nori said participants would receive professional sailing instruction from coaches from the NSW Yachting Association.

Applicants must have no previous sailing experience. They must be competent swimmers able to swim at least 50 metres.

APPLICATIONS are available from the local sport and recreation regional office or by calling 13 13 02, and close at 5pm.
