Schoolboy league excitement

GRAFTONand Maclean high schools open this season's Daily Examiner Shield rugby league competition tonight at McKittrick Park.

The schools begin battle for the symbol of schoolboy rugby league supremacy at 6pm in the opens and 5pm in the Under-14s.

Maclean are traditional heavyweights in the competition and Grafton High was a beaten grand finalist last season.

Maclean comes into the game with injury worries to some key players.

Grafton too is struggling to get its top team on the paddock with representative committments forcing a number of players to the sidelines.

The second round of games is on Tuesday, June 7 between McAuley Catholic College and South Grafton High School.

The finals will be held on Friday, June 17.
