Search is on for Jaca Matron

By EMMA CORNFORD

DURING the 2004 Jacaranda Festival, Lyn Turton got to eat tens of small cakes, go on a flight over Grafton and consume sumptuous lunches with the Jacaranda Queen Party.

She was also interviewed on radio, modelled dresses and attended the races ? all in the name of being the 2004 Matron of Honour.

The South Grafton resident said being part of the festival as the Matron was a wonderful experience.

"It was great, especially getting to know the wonderful Jacaranda Party I had," she said.

"I've always been interested in Jacaranda and seen a lot of the exhibitions and this gave me another way to see it."

Nominations are now being called for the 2005 festival Matron and Mrs Turton encouraged others to give it a go.

Any group or organisation wishing to nominate a person for the position should contact festival manager Anne de Graaf at the show office on 6642 3959.
