Seniors village taking shape

YAMBA Village's 23-home sub-division is beginning to take shape, with its new fence construction well underway along Yamba Road, across the street from Yamba Shopping Fair. General manager Fred Welsh said the fence, with its gated pedestrian entrance, will be used by village residents for walking access to shopping and bus transport. "A new pedestrian island will also be located in front of Yamba Village, providing additional safety for owners to cross Yamba Road," Mr Welsh said. The site was one of the few remaining undeveloped blocks with direct frontage onto Yamba Road. The rendered portion of the fence will be painted in earth tones with natural timber stained slats between the smooth rendered concrete posts, Mr Welsh added, giving the community a very contemporary look and feel. Mr Welsh predicts the fence will be completed within a few weeks, and resident vehicle access will be then be from Treelands Drive. When completed Yamba Village will boast three bedroom, two bathroom, double garage homes, all of 168sqm, and designed specifically to meet the needs for seniors over 55 years of age. Construction of roads within the development is likely to begin in August. The Strata title, single-storey dwellings is to be built in three stages, two of eight lots and the final stage with seven lots. Mr Welsh said the development will be marketed to 55 to 80s who no longer had kids.
