Speed to burn at dogs

By BRAD ELLIS

COUTTS Crossing speedster Energy On Fire will be looking to set the loam ablaze in heat one of the fifth grade over 407 metres at the Grafton Greyhound meeting today.

The Rick Godwin-trained sprinter had the crowd abuzz two starts back when recording a sizzling 22.84 second victory which currently stands as the record on the loam surface.

Energy On Fire will be looking to get to the outside of the track in the early stages and if he can get out there unimpeded then he will take a power of beating.

Heat two sees the Marlene Ellis-trained Fleet Assassin looking to add to his tally of two starts on the track for as many wins.

Fleet Assassin has been very impressive in each of those two starts.

This striking black greyhound has a tremendous turn of speed when he hits the ground and if left alone early should prove hard to toss.

In heat three its another Assassin, in the shape of Geoff Cowan-trained Street Assassin, who looks to have a strangle hold on this event.

Street Assassin has been crying out for an inside draw and from box two should be able to use his early pace to lead by the first turn

The fourth and final heat of the day appears to be the most open with a number of greyhounds having bright prospects.
