Speedway place to relax

BOXING Day at Bartercard Lismore Speedway will be the place to be, to let your hair down after the madness of Christmas, and be entertained by a fantastic nights racing.

Headlining the night is the Channel Ten Mr Modified Series round 1.

The Mr Modified Series is now in its 7th year, with the previous winners being a who's who of the V8 Dirt Modified ranks.

This year the level of competition has stepped up to a new stage, and as we draw closer to the all important Australian title, this series will be a guide to the racers who have the outright pace to wear the Australia 1 in the following season.

Two new contenders have emerged out of Brisbane in the past season, being Lightning Luke Oldfield and Dave Rodgie.

These two young Queenslanders thrilled the crowd at Bartercard Lismore Speedway last meeting, and even the experienced pace men of Stuart Herne and current Australian champion Mark Robinson will realise that over the Mr Modified Series, that these young guns will not allow the dominance to be displayed by the local drivers, as has been in the past.

The Mr Modified Series is a 50 feature with a pit stop at the half way mark.

The finishing positions of the first 25 laps decide the start positions of the final 25 laps.

The main advantages of this feature system, is that is gives the drivers a chance to repair damage, and rejoin the race, and for the second half of the feature, all racecars are on the lead lap.

This has led to some memorable races with some champion drives from the rear to the front.
