State medal rich reward

FOR two years, Tony Williams hardly saw his computer as his partner, Ann Gray, used it to complete her TAFE course.

And while it may not have had anything to do with the computer, Ms Gray recently graduated with distinction from her Certificate IV in Community Services and was awarded a prestigious State medal after gaining higher marks in her course than anyone else in NSW.

She is now one step closer to her dream of becoming a teacher, albeit in a different form than she'd imagined.

"I'd always wanted to be a teacher ... but this course allowed me to do work placement in the Grafton High Special Education Unit," Ms Gray said.

"It's been a big change but I love my work. I enjoy the relationships you get from working with young people."
