THIS is how some people treat the Clarence River.
Keen Grafton angler Ray Tobin came across this stinking mess yesterday about 9.30am on the boat ramp at the South Grafton Marina.
He estimated there would have been about 50 'bully' mullet and other species left on the ramp as well as the fisherman's plastic food container.
All of the fish appeared to have been filleted but, inexplicably, most of the rough fillets were left with the carcasses.
Mr Tobin suspected the mess had been left by professional fishermen.
He said bully mullet were only caught in mesh nets and it was only legal for professionals to use mesh nets.
"There are plenty of professionals up here at the moment chasing whiting, gar, jewfish and mullet. But whoever it is, it is a disgrace.
"People have to put their boats in and out there. "Why not dump it in the middle of the river where it is not in anyone's way? It should have been buried."
The Department of Primary Industries (Fisheries) believes however, that it is unlikely the remains were dumped by professionals.
