Street squabblers set for court appearance

A NUMBER of people have been arrested and charged after fights in Grafton and at Yamba on Thursday and Friday nights.

On Thursday, four men and one woman in their late teens and early 20s were arrested and charged with offences including assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and hindering police.

Police said the arrests were the result of an altercation which broke out in Victoria Street in Grafton and the alleged offenders would appear in Grafton Local Court on February 21.

In the early hours of Satur- day morning, a number of youths at Yamba were charged over an incident in River Street on Friday night which involved a large group of people.

Police said the youths were charged with trespassing, using offensive language and offensive behaviour.

The youths will appear in Maclean Local Court on February 15.

nTWO break-ins were reported in Grafton on Friday and Saturday nights.

The break-ins took place at a premises in Powell Street in Grafton on Friday night and New Street in South Grafton on Saturday night, but nothing was stolen.
