Stress relief: Counsellors may keep lifeline
By EMMA CORNFORD
NORTH Coast Lifeline services may not be under threat despite Telstra saying it would withdraw funding to the 24-hour counselling service.
A Telstra spokesperson said yesterday afternoon that the corporate giant was reviewing its position after the Prime Minister said he would like to see Telstra reconsider.
A spokesperson for Lifeline said if the Telstra funding could not be met in another way, Lifeline on the North Coast would have to meet the costs through local fundraising.
"At the moment none of the call services are under direct threat ... but local centres will have to examiner the services they provide and make a decision about which ones they can afford to continue," she said.
