Swag of awards for camera club

THERE should be plenty of smiling faces at the Grafton Camera Club's next meeting and those beaming grins won't just be for the benefit of the camera.

Several members recently took out top prizes for their work at the Northern NSW Zone Photographic Convention in Taree, a week-long photographic convention for North Coast camera clubs.

During the convention a photographic competition was conducted for members of the 10 clubs in attendance.

Slides, colour and mono- chrome photos in the open section and a freestyle and set subject section were viewed by three expert Sydney Federation of Camera Club judges.

The judges found Kevin Dixon's series of photos titled 'Twilight bear' impressive enough to award him a perfect score and the honour of having the convention's top print.

Fellow club member Geoff Biddle also received a perfect score for his photo 'Nesting flycatcher'.

The club took home trophies, several merit certificates and was awarded trophies for the slide and large colour print sections of the interclub competition.

Judy Howard was awarded first place in the freestyle section for her 'Merry go round', while Anne Onions clinched second spot in the set subject section with her photo, 'Kettle on gas burner'.

Results of the convention can be viewed at the club's next meeting at Grafton Sunshine House, Kemp Street, Grafton, at 7.30pm on Wednes- day, June 8.
