Tamara?s the toast of the town
IT wasn't very ladylike for Tamara Yarnold, pictured, to have to kneel in the middle of a paddock full of horse dung and poke her head through dirty paperbark railings at the Maclean Showground yesterday.
But she had no choice. After taking the 2006 Miss Showgirl crown at yesterday's show opening, that's what Daily Examiner photographer Adam Hourigan asked her to do, in order to get just the right shot. And it worked. After nabbing the title from three other worthy entrants, the 17-year-old TAFE student gave an articulate speech thanking both the organisers and sponsors.
"To all young women, I hope you seriously consider entering the Maclean Showgirl competition; not only is it a great way to meet people, it's also a way to discover more about the town you live in," she said.
"I also will represent the town to the best of my ability at the regional showgirl finals."
