The Blue Dolphin for sale

Yamba's multi-award winning tourist destination, the Blue Dolphin Holiday Resort, is up for sale by tender.

Blue Dolphin's owners, the Mitchell family, earlier this week declined to make any comment to The Daily Examiner about the proposed sale, preferring to wait until the final date for the submission of tenders passed on May 5.

The Sydney-based agents, CB Richard Ellis, describe the availability of the holiday park as 'an opportunity not to be missed for developers, tourism operators and investors'.

But while its classification as freehold land allows prospective buyers the option to close the holiday park and re-develop the 5.744 hectare site, CB Richard Ellis agent Ben Parkinson believes the park would continue to operate for holiday makers under new ownership.

"I think given the zoning of the property and its good reputation that it would be surprising if the park didn't go forward as a going concern," he said.

The resort has previously featured on lifestyle television programs like Getaway and regularly taken out both State and National tourism awards .

Mr Parkinson said interest had been high in the property but he declined to speculate about a sale price for fear of jeopardising the tender process.
