The heats are on at the Grafton dogs

AFTER a two week break, racing resumes today at the Grafton Greyhound Club with four heats of the Highland Pet Food Stake over 407 metres the highlight.

Heat one has the Gary Smith-trained Arara Chief start a short priced favourite after drawing favourably in box 1.

Arara Chief has recorded some smart wins on both the grass and the loam surface and does possess that touch of class as he can either lead or come from behind.

Hardest to beat will be the Cynthia Robertson-trained Tranquil Lyn and Go Wild Shadow for Maxine Gleeson.

Heat two looks to be a very nice race for the Jim Madigan trained Villarchi.

Although a slow beginner, Villarchi has been racing against much harder class than his of late and looks as though he should be able to power home over the top of his opposition today.

Others with a chance are the Laurie Arnott trained Big Doons and Haarcourt Lilly for John Haaring.

Heat three looks to be a sensational race on paper with two of the most promising young local dogs involved.

These being Energy On Fire for Rick Godwin and Millordo fro John Corrigan. Millordo has been racing in rare form with wins here at Grafton in 23.12 and 23.14 seconds as well as a very speedy 24.35 second victory at the Gold Coast.

Energy On Fire has recorded some fast times of his own in- cluding a sizzling 22.84 second victory at Grafton as well as a last start 23.28 second victory off box one.

Throw in the speeding Security Star and Street Assassin and this is a big race.

The fourth and final heat appears to be a very even affair on paper. We will bank on the Brad Northfield track Corporate Ben to be improved by his first start on the track when finding trouble in the run.
