The omens are good for High Incident
Today's feature event at the Grafton Greyhound Raceway, the Barry Jones Smash Repairs 1-4 wins 5th grade Stake, has drawn together one of the most evenly matched fields ever seen in a final at Grafton with only three to four lengths separating the runners.
There is not one of the eight finalists which you could say can't win this race and to highlight this I have selected the slowest qualifier in Katie Allover to take out the event.
Katie Allover is one of two genuine chances qualified by trainer Stephen Keep with Wild Mitch being the other.
Katie Allover is a daughter of Stephens former flying machine Sottie Allover, and has recorded a very smart time at Casino and was hampered by another runner at a key stage when a solid finishing second to Allegro Storm in her heat.
With a clear run early, Katie Allover will prove hard to beat and should offer good each-way value for punters.
Husband and wife duo of Neville and Pauline Robson have done a fantastic job in qualifying three runners for the final.
Best Over was the first to qualify when showing blistering early pace before hanging on to win in the time of 23.72 seconds, followed by Alstonvilla which ran home nicely behind Wild Mitch in 23.65 seconds and Allegro Storm who led most of the way in 23.65 seconds.
The fastest qualifier for the final was the John North trained Chaptain Ice which recorded 23.63 seconds.
John has been enjoying a good run of success of late and has a big show of taking out the race with Chaptain Ice.
This leaves just two other runners in the shape of High Incident and Alarm Ming.
The Brad Northfield-trained High Incident recently took out the rich Jacaranda Maiden final here at Grafton and for omen punters a greyhound named High Incident should be very hard to beat in a race sponsored by Barry Jones Smash Repairs.
While Alarm Ming has in fact recorded the fastest time on the track of the eight finalists when he ran a smart 23.39 second maiden victory just a few weeks back.
As you can see this is a race of many chances and in a race with this many chances there should be good value with the bookmakers.
As for the best bet of the day, just get on Katie Allover's litter brother Price Allover in the first race.
