The right foundations

IT'S an excuse to party for a cause.

Next Friday night the Grafton Regional Gallery is to host a night of Irish wit and humour to raise money for the Gallery Foundation.

Gallery Foundation chairperson Kay Alden said the foundation's first anniversary dinner would be a sparkling occasion ? a night full of wine and good spirit.

"Come if you can and wear a touch of Irish green. We will be seeing each other through 'ros?' coloured glasses," she said.

She said the 'ros?', donated by Sam Covendale, the winemaker son of Dr Steve and Mrs Ronnie Covendale, would complement canapes.

Mrs Alden said the party was a celebration with a serious purpose.

"The Clarence Valley Council recognises the cultural and educational benefits of the regional gallery, but there are a multitude of calls on council's resources," she said.

"If we want security and continuing excellence for generations we must work for it ? and sometimes party for it."

For more information and bookings call 66423177. The cost is $65 a head. The dinner starts at 6.30pm.
