Tigers set for big season

THE 2006 season marks the 25th anniversary of the Grafton Tigers Australian Rules Football Club and we are expecting a bumper year with a few changes to our club's rules and regulations.

These include a strict code of conduct, the introduction of a reserve grade team and hopefully the signing of a number of ex-Victorian players with negotiations continuing, and good news expected in the near future on those players.

With an extra grade this season adding a reserve grade to the firsts and Under-18s, the club is looking to build on our Under-18s' grand final appearance.

Our club has put in many hours of hard work during the off-season under the guidance of a new executive committee to handle all off-field business and planning.

Another new idea being tested this season is the introduction of a coaching panel to be responsible for all training facets for all three grades.

This panel consists of three experienced coaches, namely, Rick Hayman, Rod Sheather and Trevor Ross, who between them have more than 50 years experience.

Owing to the great response to our cheerleaders last season our talented and attractive young ladies will return this season to support our players and entertain the supporters.

However, we are in need of a number of new girls to join our squad, so if you are 14 or older and looking for excitement, contact Sharon Hayman on 66427606 after business hours.

Training will begin in earnest at Ellem Oval on February 2 at 6pm sharp. The club is looking to welcome back the usual players plus a host of new talent, both young and old. If you are looking for another year of footy or looking to try your talents at something new, you will not find a more family-oriented club than ours, so come and help us celebrate a fantastic anniversary year.

Hope to see you so get in contact and get ready. Contact either Rod Gillett on 66425772, Rick Hayman 66427606, Trevor Ross 66423017.

? Rod Gillett.
