DO YOU have the time?

Shoppers in Yamba's Coldstream Street might not have to ask that question anymore if a development application for a six-metre clock in the street is approved by Clarence Valley Council.

Council has been asked to consider the clock's construction to go with the development of Yamba Time Square, a three-level construction which comprises retail shops, office space and town-houses.

The DA for the clock is in the hands of council's environment and planning division, which will consider the application before making a recommendation to council.

Council will vote on the matter at its October meeting.

Comprising a timber mast, select metal sheathing and stainless steel, the twin-faced clock will be in the shape of sails and incorporate the slogan 'relax and unwind'. The idea is the brainchild of Yamba Time Square developer Bob Johnson, with the design coming from Abmay Design's Denise Patten. The DA is currently on public display at council's Maclean office and any submissions regarding the application must be made by September 16.
