Time running out for prospective Jaca Queens

By EMMA CORNFORD

CALLING all last-minute Jacaranda Queen candidates.

Entries for the competition will close on August 16, giving prospective candidates less than two weeks to get their forms in.

Five young women have nominated so far, and crowning co-ordinator Carrie Bramble, a former candidate herself, said it would be great to see more girls enter the competition.

"We have a really nice bunch of girls at the moment ? they're all really friendly and it's going to be a great year," Ms Bramble said.

"But it would be really nice to see some more girls entered in the competition."

Reigning Jacaranda Queen Samantha McClymont said she would encourage all young women to enter the competition.

"You get to see all different sides of Grafton which you otherwise would never get to see, and meet a lot of different girls who become lifelong friends," Ms McClymont said.

"It's also a lot of fun and great for public speaking skills ... and learning how to put on events and helps your organisation skills."

Anyone interested in entering this year's Jacaranda Queen competition should contact Ms Bramble on 6643 5914.
