LOCAL golfers Luke Henwood and Logan Toms have qualified for the Queensland Amateur Championships.
Maclean-based Henwood and Woolgoolga's Toms were among 32 qualifiers following the 72hole Queensland Medal contest completed last weekend.
Toms played brilliantly to qualify 8th and Henwood 23rd.
Coffs Harbour player Jason Barby also qualified in 9th.
Henwood is a multiple Mac- lean Golf Club champion and Toms a former winner of the Grafton District Golf Club Championships.
Both are also course record holders in the Clarence Valley.
Players had to complete four rounds ? one each at The Pines and Sanctuary Cove and two rounds at Gold Coast-Burleigh.
"It was really tough conditions," Henwood said. "All the courses played long and the pin placements were very difficult.
"I'm looking forward to the matchplay section and hopefully I can do well.
"I've been practising matchplay in training with the NSW junior squad."
Henwood takes on Kevin Lee in the opening matchplay round, Toms tackles Jack Munro and Barby has Aaron Pike.
Kurt Carlson from the Pacific Golf Club won the Queensland Medal from Justin Maker (Virginia Golf Club).
The championsips will be conducted at Redcliffe Golf Club over three days.
