Top gong for council

By EMMA CORNFORD

CLARENCE Valley Council took out the Cultural Infrastructure Award on Friday at the Local Government and Shires Associations awards.

The award was given for the the council's contribution to cultural infrastructure through its support of the Grafton Regional Gallery.

Gallery director Jude McBean said the award was a 'pat on the back' for council.

"It is a great recognition of the dedication and commitment of the community and of the Clarence Valley and of our local council who together established and developed our fabulous gallery," she said.

"The award recognises on a statewide basis what a great gallery we have. It is an absolute credit to our area."

There were more than 500 people at the event at Parliament House in Sydney, with entries from all over the state.
