Toy run roars towards success

THIS weekend marks three weeks until Christmas, a time of the year when all of us are thinking of those in need.

The Salvation Army is one group always thinking of others, and tomorrow will see the beginning of two of their well-known campaigns.

In conjunction with the Grafton Motorcycle Club, the Salvos will hold their annual toy run this morning.

Each rider will donate a toy to the appeal and during their run to the Salvation Army Hall will collect all the toys given by other generous families and individuals.

Salvation Army caption Ed Henderson said the toys would be donated to local families, many of whom would not be able to afford to buy presents for their children this Christmas.

The toy run roars off from Market Square at 10am but before it begins, the Salvation Army Christmas appeal will kick off at Grafton Shoppingworld at 9:30am.

Cptn Henderson said the Salvation Army trailer would be stationed at Shoppingworld in the lead up to Christmas for people to donate food and other items to families in need. Donations will be made into hampers and distributed to local families in the lead up to Christmas.
