Turkeys down the Magpies

Charged on the emotion of big prop Dave Mulcahy's last home game Kyogle overcame having a player being sent-off to defeat Lower Clarence 46-40 at New Park, Kyogle.

Mulcahy, who has been the heart and soul of the Turkeys effort for many seasons, is retiring at the end of the season and it was the last home game of his career.

However, things looked bleak for the hosts when they lost forward Simon Tough after only 20 minutes when he was sent-off for an elbow.

Lower capitalised and led 20-18 at half-time. Soon after the Magpies scored two quick tries but Kyogle fought back and eventually got the lead in the final quarter.

Lower Clarence were best served by captain-coach Jason Hebbard and hooker Chris Brophy, while fullback Luke Many also played with purpose.
