STAND-IN GI Tucabia Copmanhurst skipper Matt Pigg wants to see more consistency from his batsman when Tucabia clashes with South Services in the BCU Premier League cricket competition at McKittrick Park this afternoon.
Tucabia are coming off a thrilling win against Westlawn last weekend and Pigg wants to see more players contributing to the team effort.
The team welcomes back regular skipper Damien Rouse for today's game, but will miss pace bowler Trent Dickson.
"We've been going ok, but some of the batsmen need to apply themselves more," he said.
Pigg said the under-performing Souths outfit worried him.
"They're not going as well as they should, but saying that, there's a lot of batsmen in the side that can hurt you," he said.
"If you give them half a chance they can score a lot of runs.
"They're a team of young fellas and they can quickly turn their season around. It's our job to make sure they don't turn it around against us."
Pigg said today's McKittrick Oval wicket should provide both teams with a good surface.
"I had a look at it today and it's a good, flat surface with a good covering of grass after the break," he said.
"There'll be seam and bounce for bowlers who hit the deck and good carry and batsmen will be able to play their shots."
Pigg said the team's support bowlers could be tested during this match.
"Brett Paxton only bowled a few overs last weekend because of the way the match played out, but he should get plenty of overs this game," he said.
"Another player who's not figured a lot this season is Seb Dalton.
"But we want to keep him up in first grade as we see him as one of our key players in coming seasons."
