AFTER a comfortable victory over South Services on Saturday, Harwood have clinched the BCU Premier League cricket competition minor premiership for the second year running.

At Iluka oval Harwood resumed play at 8 for 199 and with five overs remaining not out batsmen Matt Young and Kane Aeschliman wasted no time, scoring at a rate of more than a run a ball to have Harwood sitting nicely at 8 for 232 at the completion of 80 overs.

Young and Aeschliman were 26 and 20 not out repsectivley.

Zac Page was Souths' best bowler, finishing with 3 for 52 off 20 overs.

Souths' innings had a shaky start with both Matt and Tom Kroehnert back in the pavilion with 14 runs on the board.

Brett Woods then teamed with Mick Fletcher to take the score to 74 before Woods fell to Matt Young's off-spin, caught at mid-off for a hard-hitting 60.

Fletcher then paired with Jarrod Lynch and the score went to 148 before Souths lost five batsmen for just 15 runs.

Fletcher went on to top score with 72.

Souths were 9 for 173 when Zac Page came to the crease and added 31 in a partnership with Ryan Lynch.

Souths were finally out in the 70th over for 204.

Aeschliman continued his good form with the ball, taking 3 for 31 off 15 overs.

Craig Moran and Young also chipped in with two wickets each.

Souths will take on Tucabia-Copmanhurst next weekend, while Harwood will face Brothers.
