Wanted: form in the wet
By GEOFF HEATH
TODAY'S 1500m Tradelink Plumbing Centres Orara Cup is wide open on disclosed form with half the field having wet track credentials.
However, the majority of these runners have not performed well in their last few starts.
Dugan Dan has a win and four placings on wet ground but has failed to run a place in his two runs since joining the powerful John Shelton stable although he has been badly drawn since resuming, while Kaaptive Idea, Epic Sky and Classic Frontier have also been unplaced in their previous three starts.
Top weight Song Time, who has two wins on wet ground from five starts, can afford no mistakes with 59kg from the outside barrier and the rail out very wide, saving the track for the upcoming July Carnival.
Port Macquarie visitor Our Gal Sal looks to have a very good chance in this year's Cup with a good barrier and wet form and is coming off an acceptable four and a half length last start fifth to Hunter Concorde on a heavy track at Newcastle in a 1600m Open Hcp.
Trainer John Sprague has opted for the services of Marlon Dolendo who has piloted Our Gal Sal with success in the past.
