Women's Hockey

IT was bigger than Bert Newton last week in women's hockey with the running of the hugely successful Kelly Cup and round 7 of the Westlawn Finance competition.

Well done to Baileys and Avros for coordinating a great day for the Cup on Sunday.

Many teams enjoyed the tournament from the Mods right through to the very competitive A grade.

Winners on the day included ? Demons: A grade, Inverell: B grade, McAuley: C grade, Sailors Simpsons: Primary, Funky Monkeys: Mods and Raiders: Junior High. Congratulations to these teams and all competitors on the day.

One player was overheard commenting about her recent performance in a charity golf day.

She was saying that she'd hit a birdie. It was then a kangaroo, followed by a green-keeper.

There were some stand-out games in last week's round with Demons Red dominating South1, 7-0 in A Grade, with Liesa Thompson putting on a great show in attack.

It was a goal fest in the Grafton High Reds and McAuley White encounter, with McAuley coming out on top 5-3, thanks to some great goals from Katrina Phelps, Anna Smith and Ebony Hartman.

Taylor Wilson scored a well-deserved hat trick for Grafton High.

Have you ever (send) wondered if subliminal (money) messages really (now) work?

A speedy recovery is wished to Bev Hanna and Kim Steele who recently sustained injuries during their games.

KYLIES monthly meeting is on at 5.30pm this Friday at the sponsor's establishment.

A player's husband was recently heard saying that he'd bought himself a camouflage shirt, popped it in the cupboard and now he can't find it.

SAILORS Hawks v Souths Raiders 2.50 pm Saturday game has been deferred and the Grafton Primary School v McAuley 12.20pm Saturday game has also been deferred.

UMPIRES shirts need to be returned to Cheryl Kinnane ASAP and Chris Danvers need license/passport photos from any new Vets players ASAP.

OUR terrific sponsors on board this week are Radio 2GF and McNamara and James.

Why not pop into McNamara and James for some legal advice and listen to some nice tunes on the way.
