xGhosts at crossroads

By TONY WHITE

THE Grafton Ghosts face the crossroads of this season when they tackle Tweed Coast Raiders at Les Berger Field, Cabarita, tomorrow.

Winless in 2006, it's a must win game for Grafton against lowly placed Raiders who boast only one win and two points from a bye.

Apart from one or two games, the Ghosts haven't played badly, they have simply been outclassed and have lacked 80 minutes concentrated football.

"If we can put it all together we're a good chance of winning," captaincoach Matt Michael said.

"We had a good hard fitness session on Tuesday and trained well on Thursday."

Another loss would plummet the Ghosts even further into league's abyss.

After a handful of wins in 2004 and only one win last season, Ghost players and particularly fans are craving some success.

Consistent prop Sean Davison will miss the match with commitments for a University representative team in Sydney today necessitating some positional changes and utility back Andy Bell, who failed to attend training on Thursday and didn't notify the club, has not been named in the starting first grade line up.

Michael has elevated 17-year-old Ben McLennan to wing in the top side and Travis Daley slots in at five-eighth after missing last week's loss to Marist Brothers.

"Ben is a good young footballer who has put in some good performances coming off the bench for us," Michael said.

"It was a good week for him to come in and maybe press for a per- manent first grade spot."
