Yamba fire snuffed out

By ADRIAN MILLER

A SMALL bushfire broke out in Yamba yesterday but was extinguished before it threatened any property.

The fire started just before 3pm along the Yamba Rotary Walking track which runs from the top of Pilot Hill down to Turners beach.

It took hold in the thick under- growth, and with the wind blowing in the direction of the Yamba town centre, the area was quickly blanketed with thick smoke.

The Yamba Fire Crew was called to the scene, and arrived soon after 3pm.

They had the fire under control and extinguished within 15 minutes of their arrival.

It was unclear how the fire started.
